Jeremiah 2:19-21

New International Version

¹⁹ Your wickedness will punish you;
    your backsliding^(A) will rebuke^(B) you.
Consider then and realize
    how evil and bitter^(C) it is for you
when you forsake^(D) the Lord your God
    and have no awe^(E) of me,”
declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.

²⁰ “Long ago you broke off your yoke^(F)
    and tore off your bonds;^(G)
    you said, ‘I will not serve you!’^(H)
Indeed, on every high hill^(I)
    and under every spreading tree^(J)
    you lay down as a prostitute.^(K)
21 I had planted^(L) you like a choice vine^(M)
    of sound and reliable stock.
How then did you turn against me
    into a corrupt,^(N) wild vine?
